Care & Support Worker

New Outlook has been providing housing and care services to people with sensory impairment across the West Midlands for over 170 years.
Chatham Place is an Extra Care Sheltered Housing scheme that provides 24-hour specialist care and support to vulnerable adults aged 55+ with a sensory impairment and other complex needs.
A position has opened at Chatham Place for a Care & Support Worker. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a positive, can-do attitude, who can build effective relationships with the people we support, their families, and colleagues.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and demonstrate a caring, compassionate nature alongside a strong work ethic. They must be able to work effectively as part of a team while also being confident and capable when lone working. The ability to remain flexible, proactive, and person-centred in their approach is essential.
Due to a request from the people we support, we will only accept applications from female candidates. This is in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, as the role involves providing personal care.
Duties include providing 1:1 support to tenants to promote their independence, develop daily living skills, support with personal care needs, meal preparation, and support with medication. Part of the role is to provide housing support which includes responding to daily support needs, shopping, laundry duties, assisting with activities, domestic tasks, maintaining accurate records, assisting in maintaining the security of the building and adhering to all policies and procedures of the Association.
There is a 2-week rota at Chatham Place for mornings and evenings. You will be expected to work 7-hour shifts which are 7am-2pm and 2pm-9pm, on weekdays, weekends and bank holidays, where applicable.
Previous experience in a care setting would be advantageous; however, full training will be provided, and applicants with the right values and attitude are encouraged to apply.
You must be able to work 30-hours per week, without visa restrictions. You will also need to provide enhanced DBS clearance, together with evidence of your Right to Work in the UK.
