Your role in our mission
We are recruiting Catering Assistants to join the Facilities Team at our Outstanding CQC rated Hospice in West Midlands. The Marie Curie West Midlands Hospice offers exceptional care in a welcoming environment for people with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones.
As a member of our catering team, you will assist in the daily provision of catering services across the Hospice, including ward-based service and café support, catering to our patients, their families, visitors, volunteers and hospice staff. Your role will be crucial in maintaining our level 5 food hygiene rating and our commitment to delivering consistently high-quality food service.
You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen, performing general kitchen duties, food preparation, and cooking simple meals under the direction of the Head Chef/Chef. Flexibility, presentation and organisation are essential.
Contract type: Permanent, 21.5 hours per week
Working pattern:

Shifts are typically between 7:00am to 3:00pm or 11:00pm to 7:00pm.

The role is worked on a rota basis across Monday to Sunday, including Bank Holidays.
Salary and enhancements:
Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, Band 2: £25,272 per annum, pro rata, with enhanced pay rates for Sunday and Bank Holiday hours, including an additional payment of up to 83% of the basic hourly rate.

Marie Curie West Midlands Hospice, Solihull.
Essential Criteria

Experience or knowledge of working within a catering department or kitchen environment.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Knowledge of maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic working environment.

Awareness of health and safety requirements in the workplace.

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

Strong customer service and presentation skills.

Flexible approach to work and working patterns.
Desirable Criteria

Basic Food Handling Certificate

NVQ Level 2 in Catering and Hospitality (or willingness to work towards this qualification).

Experience working within a healthcare setting.
