- Part-Time employment, 7.5 hours per week
- Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, term-time only
- After-School Club: 15:00–17:45 (may extend to 17:45 depending on demand)
- Pay: £14.46 – £15.13 per hour (including holiday pay and dependant on experience)
- Minimum Age: Applicants must be 18+
- Opportunity for additional hours through breakfast clubs at nearby settings and during school holidays
- Free PH ActiveEd/PH Camps childcare places (for children aged 4+)
About the Role
We are seeking a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Childcare Assistant to support the delivery of our after‑school provision at Manor Fields Primary School, opening from September 2026 as part of an exciting new wraparound care setting.
Working closely with the Childcare Leader, you will help ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of the after‑school club, creating a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where children can unwind, play and socialise at the end of the school day. You’ll support the preparation and delivery of fun, age‑appropriate activities, encourage positive behaviour and routines and help maintain high standards of care throughout each session.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with primary‑aged children, brings a positive and caring outlook and wants to be part of a growing provision within a supportive school community. As this is a new setting, it offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the foundations and success of the club from the very beginning.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Childcare leader with the set-up, delivery and pack-down of sessions
- Help create a warm, inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for all children
- Engage children in a variety of fun, age-appropriate activities (e.g., games, crafts, creative play)
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, school staff and colleagues
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of all children in the club
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety and behaviour policies at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children (paid or voluntary)
- Experience working in a Primary School environment (desirable)
- A caring, positive and can‑do attitude
- Someone dependable, approachable and happy to get stuck in
- A relevant childcare, play work or teaching assistant qualification (desirable)
- Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding qualifications (desirable - training can be provided)
- The ability to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate
