About the Role
JS Removals is looking for a motivated, physically fit, and proactive individual to join our team on a full-time basis. If you are customer-oriented, enjoy physical work, and have experience driving a 3.5-ton Luton van, we want to hear from you.
Our core working hours are Monday to Friday. We believe in rewarding efficiency: we start early so we can finish early. Once the day's route is fully completed, your workday is done.
A Note on Our Clearance Work
Your day-to-day duties will involve general house clearances, as well as handling unlicensed, low-grade asbestos works.
We understand that the word "asbestos" can sound intimidating, but we want to completely reassure you. We strictly only handle very low-risk, non-friable materials. Common examples of what we safely remove include:
- Corrugated cement roofing sheets from old garages or sheds
- Old cement water tanks
- Vinyl floor tiles
- Cement flue pipes and downpipes
Your safety is our priority. This work does not require a licensed contractor because the risk is incredibly low when handled correctly. You will be given comprehensive, fully paid training, strict safety protocols to follow, and high-quality protective equipment.
Main Duties
- Safely driving a 3.5t Luton box van to various locations
- Loading and unloading the vehicle, carefully categorising furniture, general waste, and low-grade asbestos
- Performing manual labour for house and garage clearances
- Communicating politely and effectively with our customers on-site
- Working cohesively as part of a team and supporting other crews when necessary
- Ensuring the company vans are kept clean, presentable, and maintained to high standards
- Reporting any van issues or route changes to the office staff promptly
Requirements
- Age requirement: Must be 25 or over (strictly for commercial vehicle insurance purposes)
- Driving Experience: Minimum of 3 years driving experience
- Driving Licence: Full UK drivers licence (A clean licence with no endorsements is highly preferred)
- Insurance: No driving insurance claims within the last 6 years
- Vehicle Experience: Confident driving a 3.5t Luton box van
- Physical Fitness: This is a physically demanding role requiring heavy lifting and manual labour
- Equipment: You must provide your own up-to-date Sat Nav, safety boots, and work gloves
- Experience: Previous labouring, house removal, or moving experience is highly advantageous
- Skills: Good communication and problem-solving skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Trial Period: £14.00 per hour for the first 6 weeks.
- Full Pay: £16.00 per hour (Upon successful completion of the 6-week trial and mandatory asbestos training)
- Pay Frequency: Paid weekly on a Wednesday
