Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Manual Turner/Fitter to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for precise machining, assembly, and fitting of components using manual equipment. Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes, and other machining tools to produce high-precision components
- Interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication
- Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling to modify or repair parts according to specifications
- Conduct basic measurements and calculations using mathematical skills to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Assist with the setup and calibration of machinery
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with team members on projects involving mechanical assembly and component fitting
Qualifications
- Proven experience in manual turning, milling, or fitting roles within a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and tooling equipment
- Familiarity with welding techniques and grinding processes is advantageous
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tasks
- Knowledge of plastics injection moulding processes is desirable
- Ability to work accurately under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality and safety standards
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or related fields are preferred but not essential
