The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, detail-driven and highly organised Finance Manager to join our Senior Management Team on a part-time basis.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced finance professional who enjoys taking responsibility for the day-to-day finances of a business while also producing accurate and useful financial information for management.
Working closely with the Senior Management Team and external accountants, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly management accounts, managing payroll and VAT processes, monitoring cashflow, and supporting month-end and year-end reporting.
We are looking for someone who is confident working independently, has a good understanding of the numbers behind the business, and takes pride in ensuring the finance function runs accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Financial Management
- Day-to-day accounting using Xero, including bank reconciliations
- Journal management and reconciliation
- Preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts
- Month-end processing, including accruals and prepayments
- Cashflow monitoring and basic forecasting
- Management of accounts payable, purchase orders and supplier payments
- Management of accounts receivable, invoicing and credit control
- Oversight of online banking platforms and payment processing
- Manage client recharges and related invoicing
- Maintain accurate financial records and resolve discrepancies as they arise
Payroll
- Payroll processing and statutory submissions
- Management of pension, NIC/PAYE and student loan processes
- Act as point of contact with HMRC for payroll-related queries
- Preparation of payroll reports
VAT, Compliance & External Liaison
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Ensure appropriate VAT treatment is applied to transactions
- Liaison with external accountants for year-end accounts
- Maintain accurate supporting records and provide information as required
- Support the processing of international payments and transactions involving overseas entities and foreign currencies
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Senior Bookkeeper, Management Accountant or similar hands-on finance role
- Strong working knowledge of Xero accounting software
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts
- Experience processing payroll and VAT submissions
- Good practical understanding of VAT
- Good understanding of bookkeeping, reconciliations and month-end processes
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage recurring finance cycles
- Confident liaising with HMRC, external accountants and internal stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and manage priorities effectively
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with international payments, overseas entities, foreign currency transactions and/or cross-border VAT considerations would be advantageous

You bring a calm, dependable presence to a busy, friendly working environment and are looking for a part-time role where you can take genuine ownership of the finance function.
