Poolside Swimming Coordinator

Mer-Fin Swim Ltd is a private swim school based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, delivering high-quality, low-ratio swimming lessons for children aged 2 years+ in line with the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway. We pride ourselves on exceptional teaching standards and outstanding customer service for parents and carers.
We are currently looking for a Poolside Swimming Coordinator to join our friendly and professional team and support the smooth running of our swimming lessons.
Hours
- Sundays:
- 9:45am – 12:45pm or
- 12:30pm – 3:30pm
- Monday to Friday:
- 4:15pm – 8:00pm
- 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter & six weeks summer holidays off
- Self-employed basis
- September 2026 start
The Role
As Poolside Swimming Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring lessons run safely, smoothly, and on time, while providing a warm, welcoming experience for swimmers and their parents/carers.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and setting up the pool facility in line with the pool plan
- Lifeguard duties - you must be qualified NPLQ or equivalent, such as NRASTC if you are a swim teacher.
- Tidying equipment away and securely locking up where required
- Overseeing day-to-day poolside operations
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organised pool environment
- Supervising pool staff and swimmers
- Coordinating pool activities and lesson flow
- Meeting and greeting swimmers and directing them to lessons
- Providing excellent customer service and handling queries or concerns
- Reporting any issues to management
- Ensuring pool rules and safety procedures are followed
- Supporting basic pool equipment checks
About You
You will be:
- Lifesaving qualified
- Naturally warm, friendly, and welcoming
- Immaculately presented in uniform (provided)
- Confident communicating with children, parents, and staff
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Hands-on with a positive, can-do attitude
- Aged 18 or over due to supervisory responsibilitiesDesirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience in a similar poolside or leisure role
- Strong leadership or supervisory skills
- Lifeguard or swimming teaching qualifications
