Position: Senior Technical Surveyor (Grade 10)
Location: Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 5BT

Contract Duration: 13+ Months
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £32.85 per hour
Job Responsibilities
- Manage Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) projects from initial assessment through to completion
- Carry out property surveys and assess the suitability of home adaptations for people with disabilities
- Design home adaptations and prepare technical drawings using AutoCAD
- Produce specifications, schedules of work, and submit Planning and Building Regulations applications
- Act as the Principal Designer under CDM Regulations, ensuring health and safety compliance throughout projects
- Manage project budgets, contractor procurement, quotations, and contract delivery
- Monitor construction works through site inspections, quality checks, and final approvals
- Ensure projects comply with Building Regulations, planning requirements, asbestos regulations, and other relevant legislation
- Maintain accurate project records, financial documentation, and case management information
- Work closely with Occupational Therapists, contractors, housing providers, healthcare professionals, and clients to deliver suitable home adaptations
- Support and mentor technical officers and contribute to service improvements and best practices
- Manage multiple projects while ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget
Person Specification
- Degree or HND in Building Surveying, Architecture, or a related construction discipline
- Proven experience as a Building Surveyor, Architectural Surveyor, or Architect
- Experience delivering Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) or home adaptation projects
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning processes, and housing construction
- Experience acting as a Principal Designer under CDM Regulations 2015
- Proficient in AutoCAD and preparing technical drawings
- Experience managing construction projects, contractors, budgets, and contracts
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to clients and stakeholders
- Strong organisational, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
- Empathetic approach when working with people with disabilities and their families
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
