Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, specialising in sushi preparation, and possess a keen eye for detail and presentation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to craft authentic sushi dishes in a dynamic restaurant environment, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.
- Handle food preparation tasks including slicing, rolling, and plating sushi using traditional techniques.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards throughout all stages of meal preparation.
- Manage ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and proper storage of seafood, rice, vegetables, and other supplies.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods while maintaining attention to detail.
- Assist in developing new sushi recipes and presentation styles to enhance menu offerings.
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station in compliance with health regulations.
- Serve dishes professionally, engaging with guests when appropriate to enhance their dining experience.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a restaurant setting, ideally specialising in Japanese cuisine.
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and meal presentation with an emphasis on sushi artistry.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices within a commercial kitchen environment.
- Previous restaurant experience demonstrating the ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours.
