Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and organised Shop Assistant to join our new angling superstore team.
Fishing knowledge and experience is essential for this vacancy
The succesful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with merchandising, and ensuring the smooth operation of the shop. This role offers an opportunity to develop valuable skills in a dynamic environment, supporting both customers and colleagues to achieve sales targets and maintain high standards of presentation. Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries in a professional manner
- Support merchandising efforts by organising displays and ensuring stock levels are maintained
- Upsell products effectively to maximise sales opportunities
- Handle transactions accurately using the till system, including processing payments and issuing receipts
- Maintain a clean and organised shop environment, including replenishing stock and tidying shelves
- Communicate product features and benefits clearly to customers, adapting language as needed (multilingual skills are advantageous)
- Manage time efficiently to ensure all tasks are completed within shift hours
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when responding to customer calls or inquiries
- Assist with stock deliveries and organise storage areas as required
- Support team members in achieving sales targets and maintaining high standards of customer service
Skills
- Fluency in English.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
- Excellent time management to balance multiple responsibilities during shifts
- Friendly phone etiquette when dealing with customer queries over the phone
- Proven ability in upselling products to enhance sales performance
- Good organisational skills to manage stock levels and maintain shop presentation standards
- Experience or interest in merchandising is a plus but not essential
