About the role
The FM Cleaning Operative role supports the aims of the Facilities Management team by delivering high-quality cleaning and domestic services across the University estate. This role plays a key part in maintaining safe, hygienic and welcoming environments for students, staff and visitors through the delivery of daily cleaning, periodic tasks and responsive support services.
The post holder will work across a variety of campus locations, including academic buildings, offices, communal areas and student accommodation, undertaking a broad range of duties including routine and deep cleaning, waste management, consumable replenishment and emergency cleaning response. Working as part of a dedicated team, the role also contributes to service improvements, supports events and seasonal operations, and helps maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and customer service across the University.

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering high-quality cleaning services and take pride in maintaining safe, hygienic and welcoming environments. They will be customer-focused, reliable and able to work effectively across a varied university estate, demonstrating professionalism and attention to detail in all aspects of their work.
A strong understanding of cleaning standards, safe working practices and the use of professional cleaning equipment is essential, alongside the ability to follow procedures and communicate effectively with colleagues, students and visitors. The successful candidate will be adaptable, capable of working independently or as part of a team, and committed to supporting continuous improvements in service delivery while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and customer care.
Salary
£26,457 to £26,750 (pro-rata) per annum, inclusive of London Weighting.
Available shifts:
- 05:30 to 09:00 - 17.5 hours/week
- 06:00 to 09:00 - 15 hours/week
- 06:00 to 10:00 - 8 hours/week (Saturday and Sunday)
- 06:00 to 11:00 - 10 hours/week (Saturday and Sunday)
Pay: £26,457.00-£26,750.00 per year
