Job Overview
seeking a reliable and experienced class 2 Cat C HGV driver to drive a Refuse truck, collecting household waste. to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of designated streets and public areas while operating a specialised van. This role requires a professional driver with excellent organisational skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment. The position offers an opportunity to contribute positively to community cleanliness and safety whilst ensuring timely delivery of services.
Responsibilities
- Operate a specialised street cleaning van safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic regulations and safety protocols.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic mechanical checks to ensure optimal operation of the van.
- Collect waste and debris from designated streets, parks, and public spaces, ensuring thorough cleaning standards are met.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment or materials, including flatbed accessories if required.
- Maintain accurate records of completed routes, waste collected, and any issues encountered during shifts.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding daily tasks, route updates, or vehicle maintenance needs.
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to ensure personal safety and that of the public during operations.
Qualifications
- Valid cat c driver’s licence with a uk licence .
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably within municipal or waste management services.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems related to vans or lorries; basic troubleshooting skills are advantageous.
This position is 37 hours paid PAYE with accruing holiday pay over a 4 day week generally Tuesday to Friday
