Multiskilled Operator – Print & Lamination
Location: Elsham, North Lincolnshire
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off, 12-hour shifts
Shift Times: 6:00am–6:00pm / 6:00pm–6:00am (av. 42 hours per week)
Breaks: 1-hour paid break per shift
We are looking for an experienced Multiskilled Operator to join our manufacturing team at our Elsham site.
This is a key operational role providing skilled production support across both our Flexographic Print and Lamination departments.
We are looking for someone who is already fully competent and experienced in operating both Print and Lamination machinery and who can confidently move between the two areas according to production requirements.
The successful candidate will be expected to operate as a fully skilled Printer and Lamination Operator, providing flexibility and resilience across both departments and supporting the business where their skills are most needed.
This is not a training or development role. Candidates must already have the required practical experience and competency to operate across both processes.
Key responsibilities
You will be required to:
- Operate flexographic printing and lamination machinery safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
- Provide skilled cover across both Print and Lamination according to production demand, absence and operational requirements.
- Work independently with limited supervision.
- Complete machine set-ups, changeovers and production activities to the required standards.
- Carry out process and quality checks and respond appropriately to any issues.
- Monitor machinery during production and identify and resolve operational problems where possible.
- Accurately complete production records and relevant systems.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene and cleanliness.
- Promote safe working practices and comply with all Health & Safety requirements.
- Support preventative maintenance activities where required.
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing areas.
- Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to improve processes and performance.
- Provide operational cover wherever required to maintain production across the site's 24/7 operation.
Print responsibilities
As a skilled Printer, you will be expected to have experience in areas including:
- Press set-up and make-ready.
- Reel and core preparation and loading.
- Plate and cylinder preparation and removal.
- Ink viscosity control.
- Monitoring the printing process and web scanner.
- Carrying out process and quality inspections.
- Identifying and responding to defects.
- Weighing and recording finished reels.
- Completing production records and SAP transactions.
- Operating and supporting the site's flexographic printing presses.
Lamination responsibilities
As a skilled Lamination Operator, you will be expected to have experience in:
- Selecting films, materials and operating supplies in accordance with job specifications.
- Machine and job set-up.
- Monitoring the lamination process.
- Carrying out quality and process inspections.
- Monitoring machine performance and troubleshooting operational issues.
- Unloading, recording, palletising and packaging finished product.
- Completing production records and relevant system transactions.
- Identifying maintenance requirements and escalating issues appropriately.
- Reworking non-conforming product where required.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment.
You will ideally have:
- 5+ years' experience within an FMCG/manufacturing environment.
- Strong, proven experience operating both flexographic Print and Lamination machinery.
- Demonstrable competence in both processes and the ability to work independently.
- Experience working across multiple flexographic manufacturing processes.
- Good knowledge of COSHH and relevant Health & Safety requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A flexible approach to working across different departments and production requirements.
- A strong commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
