As a key member of the finance team, the Fian will take responsibility for the monthly management accounts process, producing accurate and timely management information in line with business requirements, while ensuring relevant regulatory obligations are met.
The role will have autonomy to review, challenge and improve existing finance processes, controls and reporting, working closely with the Finance Director to develop a more efficient, accurate and commercially focused finance function.
The role will also oversee the payroll function, ensuring it is accurate, compliant, and completed in line with agreed deadlines.
Main Duties
- Take full responsibility for producing monthly management accounts in line with internal reporting deadlines, including variance analysis and commentary, detailed overhead analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage customer and supplier rebate schemes.
- Prepare finance content for board reporting packs, including Excel analysis and PowerPoint slides.
- Deliver customer and service profitability reporting.
- Ensure compliance with VAT, Corporation Tax and other relevant UK regulations.
- Manage cash flow, including daily cash control and 26-week cash flow forecasting, optimising cash utilisation to support ongoing operational and strategic objectives.
- Investigate and implement additional reporting requirements to support the business’s decision making.
- Lead the preparation of weekly & monthly forecasts and support the annual budget process, ensuring assumptions are robust, clearly documented and aligned to business objectives.
- Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance business efficiency and accuracy.
- Ad hoc analysis work as required by the FD or SLT
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and drive financial understanding.
- Lead quarterly and annual audits, compiling necessary information, and liaising with external teams.
- Oversee the payroll function
- Provide day-to-day leadership and support to the finance team, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in line with agreed deadlines.
- Assist within the finance department as required.
Person Specification
- Minimum part qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA).
- Proven experience in a similar finance role, including management accounts, reporting, and financial controls
- Highly motivated and ambitious.
- Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
- Ability to challenge and improve processes
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills – written & verbal.
- Experience of Sage 200 would be advantageous but not necessary.
