This is a fantastic opportunity for a practical and hands on Maintenance and Facilities Manager to take responsibility for the maintenance, safety and general condition of a historic estate venue in Cumbria. The property hosts weddings, events, retreats, private functions and residential guests, so presentation, safety and attention to detail are key to the smooth running of the business.
This is very much a hands on position. The role would suit someone who is proactive, reliable and takes real ownership of their work, with the ability to carry out general maintenance themselves while also managing specialist contractors when required. You will play an important role in keeping the hotel, estate grounds and associated buildings safe, compliant, well maintained and looking their best.
The ideal person may have previous experience as a Maintenance Manager, Facilities Manager, Property Manager, Estates Manager or similar. Experience within a hotel, country house, heritage property, wedding venue, private estate or events venue would be particularly relevant. Good practical maintenance skills are essential, while knowledge of health and safety, fire safety, water hygiene and statutory compliance would be highly desirable.
Maintenance and Facilities Manager Ideal Profile:

Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager, Facilities Manager, Property Manager, Estates Manager or similar

Background in a hotel, country house, heritage property, wedding venue, private estate or similar setting would be beneficial

Practical and hands on, with the ability to complete general maintenance tasks independently

Proactive, reliable and confident taking ownership of property standards and maintenance priorities

Good understanding of health and safety, fire safety, water hygiene and statutory compliance would be highly desirable

Confident managing contractors, quotations, servicing schedules and maintenance expenditure

Organised and detail focused, with the ability to keep accurate records and plan preventative maintenance
Maintenance and Facilities Manager Responsibilities:

Manage day to day maintenance across the hotel, estate and associated buildings

Carry out general maintenance tasks and respond to urgent issues when required

Plan and maintain preventative maintenance schedules and regular property inspections

Oversee health and safety, fire safety, emergency lighting, water hygiene, COSHH and maintenance compliance records

Coordinate statutory servicing, inspections, contractors, quotations and maintenance spend

Manage the Riskproof health and safety system, outstanding actions, risk assessments and compliance tasks

Ensure the property, grounds and facilities are ready for weddings, events, retreats and residential guests

Work closely with the General Manager and wider operational team to support the smooth running of the venue
