Overview
We are seeking an experienced Care Home Cook to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing nutritious and delicious meals to residents, ensuring high standards of food safety and presentation. Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals tailored to residents' dietary requirements and preferences
- Plan menus in accordance with nutritional guidelines and special dietary needs
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times
- Manage food stock levels, order supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Assist with meal service, ensuring timely delivery of hot and appealing dishes
- Follow all health and safety regulations to create a safe working environment
- Collaborate with care staff to accommodate specific dietary restrictions or requests
- Keep accurate records of food preparation, stock levels, and cleaning schedules
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene
- Previous experience working in a care home, hospital, or similar setting is desirable
- Familiarity with meal planning, catering for special diets, and serving large groups efficiently
- Experience in culinary roles such as restaurant or catering service is advantageous
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Level 3 Food hygiene qualification
Hours: 27 hours per week
Rota: Rolling rota, with every other weekend off
