About the role
JM Cars St Ives is looking for a caring, reliable and responsible Passenger Assistant to join our team supporting our school transport contracts.
The successful candidate will travel alongside our drivers, helping to ensure that children and young passengers have a safe, comfortable and positive journey to and from school.
This is a rewarding role where you will play an important part in supporting children and helping families feel confident that their children are travelling safely.
The position is term-time only, making it particularly suitable for someone looking for work that fits around school holidays and family commitments.
Key responsibilities
- Accompany children and young passengers during school transport journeys.
- Assist passengers safely when boarding and leaving the vehicle.
- Help ensure passengers remain safe, comfortable and settled throughout the journey.
- Provide a calm, friendly and reassuring presence.
- Support passengers who may require additional assistance.
- Communicate professionally with parents, schools, drivers and JM Cars staff.
- Monitor passengers during journeys and report any concerns appropriately.
- Follow JM Cars' safeguarding, health and safety procedures.
- Help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all passengers.
About you

Previous experience working with children, young people, schools or passenger transport would be an advantage but is not essential. Full guidance and support will be provided.
Requirements
- An Enhanced DBS check will be required, or you must be willing to obtain one.
- Epilepsy Trained candidate preferable - Training can be provided if not.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliability and commitment throughout the school term.
- Ability to work the required morning and afternoon school transport journeys.
Working hours
The role is term-time only, following school term dates.

The role will cover St Ives, Hayle, Penzance and surrounding areas.
