We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business in the Telford area.
This is a key leadership role responsible for the management, development, and continuous improvement of all maintenance activities across a busy production facility. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring maximum plant reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with health and safety requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop a multi-skilled maintenance team
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Support training, development, and succession planning initiatives
- Provide technical guidance and leadership across the site
Maintenance & Asset Reliability
- Develop and implement preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance strategies
- Maximise equipment reliability and minimise unplanned downtime
- Oversee maintenance activities across production equipment, utilities, material handling systems, and site infrastructure
- Monitor performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
- Ensure effective planning and scheduling of maintenance activities
Health & Safety
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in compliance with legislation and company procedures
- Manage contractor control processes, permit-to-work systems, and isolation procedures
- Support audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Drive a proactive approach to health and safety across the engineering function
Continuous Improvement & Projects
- Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities
- Implement reliability and efficiency improvements across the site
- Support capital investment and plant improvement projects
- Manage major shutdowns, upgrades, and repair programmes
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders
About You
To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, or Senior Engineering position
- A strong background within manufacturing, production, engineering, processing, or heavy industrial environments
- Experience leading multi-skilled engineering teams
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance systems
- Excellent fault-finding, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Experience managing contractors, maintenance budgets, and engineering projects
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities
Desirable
- HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering
- IOSH, NEBOSH, or other health and safety qualifications
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience delivering capital projects and plant upgrades
