A welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Greenwich is looking to appoint a dedicated Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for the full academic year, supporting pupils across the primary age range on both a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or an aspiring Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Primary Teacher looking to gain invaluable school-based experience.
Primary SEN Teaching Assistant – The Role
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs
- Deliver targeted interventions to small groups, helping children make academic, social and emotional progress
- Support pupils with needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH, Global Developmental Delay and other additional learning needs
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning and behaviour strategies
- Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing
- Adapt learning resources to ensure every child can access the curriculum
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
Primary SEN Teaching Assistant – The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs
- Patient, caring and resilient with a positive attitude
- Experienced working with children or young people with SEN, either in schools or other settings
- An excellent communicator who enjoys working as part of a team
- Proactive and adaptable when responding to individual pupil needs
- Able to commit to a full-time role for the full academic year
