We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager who is passionate about tackling global health challenges, to play a pivotal role in delivering Oxford Global Health - an ambitious University-wide initiative that brings together global health research from across every academic discipline.
Working closely with the Oxford Global Health Co-Directors, academic leaders, professional services teams and external partners, you will turn strategic ambitions into coordinated programmes of work. About the role
Oxford Global Health showcases and strengthens global health research across the University. Hosted by the Medical Sciences Division, it connects researchers, professional services teams and partners in Oxford and internationally.
This senior professional services role sits at the heart of the initiative, providing the operational and administrative leadership needed to support the Co-Directors and academic community in delivering Oxford Global Health’s priorities.
Key responsibilities include coordinating multiple workstreams, establishing effective governance and ensuring that plans, budgets, risks and decisions are managed clearly and consistently. The role also involves preparing high-quality papers and briefings, supporting senior meetings and maintaining momentum across a broad network of colleagues and partners.
A central focus will be creating opportunities for researchers from different disciplines to connect and develop new collaborations. The postholder will support strategic funding bids and engagement with funders and partners, while overseeing Oxford Global Health’s programme of events and communications.
The role also includes leadership of the professional services team, setting clear priorities and fostering an inclusive, collaborative and responsive working culture.
About you
You will bring substantial experience of leading complex programmes involving multiple stakeholders, partners and priorities. Essential to the role are the ability to translate strategy into practical plans, exercise sound judgement and deliver results with a high degree of autonomy.
Strong programme and project management skills are required, including experience of managing budgets, risks, milestones and competing demands. Success in the role will also depend on an ability to build trusted relationships, influence senior stakeholders and work confidently across disciplinary, organisational, cultural and geographical boundaries. You will also demonstrate a strong interest in global health and in enabling academic collaboration.
Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills are essential, together with experience of supporting governance or senior decision-making groups. You will hold a degree or have equivalent professional experience.
Experience of line management, higher education, health policy, research funding or strategic partnerships would be an advantage. A formal project or programme management qualification would also be desirable.
