HLTA – Primary School | September Start | Westminster
A welcoming and high-achieving Primary School in the London Borough of Westminster is looking to appoint an experienced HLTA from September. This is a full-time, long-term, term-time only opportunity, with the successful candidate joining the school for the full academic year.
This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for a confident HLTA who enjoys working across different year groups. You will provide high-quality class cover across Reception to Year 4, often at short notice, ensuring learning continues seamlessly when teachers are absent. A strong knowledge of phonics is essential, as supporting early reading will form a key part of the role.

JOB DESCRIPTION – Primary HLTA
- HLTA
- Providing whole-class cover and group work across Reception to Year 4
- Delivering engaging pre-planned lessons at short notice
- Leading phonics sessions and supporting early reading across EYFS and KS1
- Delivering small group interventions where required
- Working closely with teachers and senior leaders to ensure continuity of learning
- Full-time, long-term position (term-time only)

- £145+ per day

PERSON SPECIFICATION – Primary HLTA
- HLTA qualification or proven experience in a similar role
- Strong phonics knowledge with experience supporting early reading
- Confident leading classes independently across Reception to Year 4
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Flexible, calm and able to respond to changing daily priorities
- Positive, proactive and committed to helping every child succeed
