Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced and organised Kitchen Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy kitchen within a lively sports bar and hospitality environment.
The successful candidate will lead the kitchen team, ensure consistently high standards of food quality and food safety, manage stock and labour effectively, and ensure the kitchen operates smoothly during both everyday service and busy sporting events.
This would suit an experienced Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef or Head Chef who enjoys leading a team and thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and ensure services run efficiently.
· Recruit, train, motivate and manage the kitchen team.
· Produce staff rotas and manage kitchen labour costs in line with business requirements.
· Maintain consistently high standards of food preparation, presentation and service.
· Ensure food is prepared and served efficiently during busy periods, including major sporting events.
· Manage stock levels, ordering, deliveries and stock rotation across both the kitchen and bar area.
· Daily management of food delivery platform.
· Cooking for adhoc private functions, including corporate events.
· Monitor food wastage and take steps to minimise unnecessary costs.
· Work to agreed food GP and cost targets.
· Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, allergen, HACCP and health & safety requirements.
· Maintain excellent kitchen cleanliness and organisation.
· Complete required food safety documentation and ensure records are kept up to date.
· Ensure kitchen equipment is correctly maintained and report faults where necessary.
· Work closely with the General Manager/front-of-house management team to ensure smooth service.
· Support the implementation of new dishes, menus, promotions and event-specific food offerings.
· Manage kitchen performance and address training or performance issues appropriately.
· Maintain appropriate staffing and preparation levels for major fixtures, events and particularly busy trading periods.
What We're Looking For
· Previous experience managing a kitchen within a pub, bar, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
· Experience of working within a busy, high-volume kitchen.
· Strong people-management and leadership skills.
· Good understanding of food GP, stock management, wastage and labour control.
· Excellent knowledge of food hygiene, allergens and kitchen health & safety.
· Ability to remain organised and calm during extremely busy services.
· Strong communication skills and a hands-on approach.
· Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, particularly around major sporting fixtures and events.
