In this role, you will deliver innovative client solutions while helping to develop and strengthen our civil engineering team. As a Senior Engineer, you will bring experience in civil engineering design and project coordination.
Our civil engineering teams provide design, procurement, coordination and project management services across the full project lifecycle. We deliver multi-disciplinary consultancy and specialist technical services on projects exceeding £500 million, with expertise in highways, pavements, bridges, earthworks, remediation, utilities, flood alleviation, SuDS, pumping stations, sewerage systems, external works and highway and drainage agreements, including S278, S38 and S104.
What you need to do to be effective in this role
- Leading project teams
- Interfacing with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects i.e. architects, building services engineers, project managers and cost managers
- Assist with client / project proposals to win new work
- Representing Ridge at client and project meetings to present designs and make key project decisions
- Undertake, co-ordinate and manage highways and drainage designs relating to large development infrastructure projects
- Produce Flood Risk Assessments (FRA’s), Drainage Strategies and other pre-planning advice
- Provide day-to-day client interface, conducting site visits for technical assessment or problem-solving
- Train and/or mentor less experienced members of the team
The skills and experience you need to have for this role
- Experience in a similar role, ideally within a multi-disciplinary organisation
- Preferably professionally qualified as a chartered engineer (CEng) or keen to become chartered
- Design experience with proven post-graduation experience that will be discussed at interview
- Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and in particular Civil 3D for highway and surface design
- A competent user of Infodrainage with a solid understanding of drainage and SuDS design
- A solid understanding and experience in producing earthworks cut and fill assessments
- A good understanding of section 38, 278 (Highways Act) and section 104, 106 and 185 (Water industry Act) agreements
- Effective communication with statutory bodies (such as Local Planning Authority, Lead Local Flood Authority, Highways, Environment Agency, etc.) to agree solutions in the best interests of our clients
- Experience with designing a wide range of projects from concept through to completion (including calculations, drawings and specifications)
- Familiar with Part H and M of the Building Regs., British Standards and DMRB
- Understanding of BIM and its use in civil engineering design and delivery
- Be confident in design work and willing to contribute to project delivery
- Apply technical expertise to solve complex challenges and communicate solutions clearly
