Perinatal & Infant Mental Health Outreach Practitioner
Part-Time (21 hours/week) | £16.15/hour (£31,492.50 FTE)
Fixed Term until 30th November 2028
Location: Selkirk, Scottish Borders (travel required throughout the Scottish Borders)
Are you passionate about supporting families through the early stages of parenthood? Do you have experience providing emotional and practical support, and want to make a real difference in your local community?
Nurture the Borders is looking for a caring, resilient, and skilled Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Outreach Practitioner to join our small, supportive team. You’ll provide one-to-one and group-based support to parents and infants from pregnancy through to age two, working primarily in family homes and community settings across the Scottish Borders.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide compassionate, non-judgemental emotional and practical support to families during the perinatal period
- Carry out home-based assessments and develop tailored support plans
- Support parent-infant relationships and promote secure early attachment
- Facilitate group sessions (e.g. parenting programmes, peer support groups)
- Work closely with therapists, volunteers, and other team members to deliver holistic care
- Contribute to outreach, community engagement, and awareness-raising
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with families, ideally during the perinatal or early years period
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Ability to manage a busy caseload, lone work, and travel across the Borders
- A compassionate, person-centred approach with strong emotional resilience
- Knowledge of perinatal and infant mental health (training provided if needed)
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
