We are recruiting a temporary Assistant Team Leader for our supported living service This is an opportunity for an experienced member of staff to step into a short term leadership role within a regulated supported living service for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
About the service
Supported living provides care and support for adults with a learning disability whereby we promote independent living skills and enable adults to overcome barriers, ensuring that we are compliant with Social Services and Well-being Act, RISCA, and Care Inspectorate Wales requirements.
The role
You will support the manager with the day to day running of the service. You will provide visible leadership on shift, support staff practice, and help maintain safe, high quality, and compliant care.
In this role you will
- Provide shift leadership and support staff on duty
- Act as a role model for person centred and outcome focused practice
- Coordinate shifts, delegate tasks, and support problem solving
- Ensure care and support plans and risk assessments are followed in practice
- Promote dignity, choice, and positive risk taking
- Support safe medication practice in line with BCBC policy
- Respond appropriately to incidents, safeguarding concerns, and changes in need
- Work closely with families, carers, and professionals
- Support new staff and learning on shift
- Escalate concerns to the Team Leader or Registered Manager as required
What we are looking for
- Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs
- Experience working in a regulated care setting
- Confidence supporting and guiding staff on shift
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Understanding of safeguarding, MCA, and risk management
- Commitment to person centred support
- Registration with Social Care Wales, or willingness to register

Night Duties, Sleeping In and Weekend Working are a requirement of this post.
