Proto Bakery St Albans is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our busy bakery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, supporting bakers, pastry chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience within the hospitality industry, particularly in food preparation, cooking, and restaurant settings. Prior experience in a similar role or in hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
This is a part time role based in our St Albans bakery on Chequer Street.
Duties
- Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, and pans efficiently to maintain hygiene standards
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision
- Supporting kitchen staff with organisation and stock replenishment
- Ensuring the cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment throughout shifts
- Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Maintaining a tidy work environment to promote safety and efficiency
- Supporting serving staff during busy periods by clearing tables and assisting with basic service tasks as required
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not mandatory
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as required
Pay is £12.71 for 18+ or £10 an hour for 16/17 year olds
