Social Media Executive
Salary: £27,000 per annum
35 Hours Per Week
About Us
British Horse Society (BHS) is the UK’s largest equine charity, helping horses and everyone who cares for them enjoy the best possible life together. We make riding safer, champion the welfare of horses, protect off road riding routes, encourage participation and increase education and understanding around horses. Whether your time with horses is a bit of fun, a life’s passion or a life’s work, we make sure you can always find happiness, confidence and contentment together.
In this role, you'll play a key part in bringing BHS stories to life across social media, creating engaging content that connects with our audiences, grows our communities and inspires more people to support our charitable work.
Job Purpose
We're looking for a social-first content creator who lives and breathes video. Someone who loves spotting trends, creating content that stops thumbs scrolling and finding creative ways to tell stories. If you're the type of person who is always filming, editing, testing new ideas and keeping up with the latest social trends, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll help deliver engaging social media content across our channels, support community management and play a leading role in growing newer platforms such as TikTok and YouTube.
This is a hands-on role where you'll be filming, editing, creating and publishing content while working closely with colleagues across the organisation to showcase the impact of BHS.
What you’ll be doing:
- Creating and editing engaging video content for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn.
-
Playing a key role in shaping and growing our TikTok and YouTube channels, helping define what great content looks like for new audiences.
-
Travelling to major events, shows and campaigns to capture behind-the-scenes content, rider stories, horse welfare work and everything in between.
-
Working with teams across Communications, Welfare, Education, Membership, Fundraising, Access and Safety to create compelling social content.
-
Managing and scheduling content across our social media channels to maximise reach and engagement.
-
Monitoring and engaging with our online communities, responding to comments and messages in a friendly and professional way.
-
Using social media insights and performance data to identify opportunities and improve future content. Bringing your own ideas to the table too.
-
Supporting colleagues across BHS to capture great content and follow social media best practice
What you won’t be doing:
- You won't be sitting behind a desk creating the same content every day. You'll be out at events, working with different teams and finding new stories to tell.
-
You won't be focused on a single platform. You'll be creating content across a range of channels, audiences and formats.
-
You won't be working alone. You'll be part of a supportive Marketing, Communications and Fundraising team, collaborating with colleagues across the organisation.
This is a great role for you if:
- You love creating social media content and have strong video editing skills.
-
You're always the first to spot a trend and enjoy turning ideas into engaging content.
-
You understand what works on TikTok, Instagram and other social platforms and enjoy experimenting with new formats.
-
You're a creative storyteller with a good eye for visuals and detail.
-
You're confident engaging with online communities and building relationships through social media.
-
You enjoy using data and insights to improve performance and shape future content.
-
You thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
-
You want your creativity and content skills to make a positive difference while helping grow one of the UK's most loved equestrian charities.
Why Join Us?
