JOB SUMMARY
As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to residents in this family run residential care home setting. Your responsibilities will include overseeing and assisting with all daily living activities, creating and updating care plans, and supervising care staff to ensure the well-being of our residents. This position requires excellent communication and leadership skills.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- A genuine passion for senior care and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Excellent team player skills.
- Knowledge of developing and implementing care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Proficiency in IT systems for maintaining records and documentation.
Desired:
- Experience of working with the relevant client group as a shift leader or senior.
- Experience of managing people and leading a team.
- Diploma level 3 or working towards.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- To oversee the care team to ensure residents are assisted appropriately with all aspects of living activities, ensuring that the highest possible levels of care are always maintained.
- To be first point of contact for staff on shift, referring only issues that require escalating to the Head of Care or Registered Manager.
- Assist the Registered Manager and Head of Care with the management of the staff rota.
- Be the first point of contact for residents, relatives, and visitors (including medical professionals).
- Report on the well-being of the residents to the management during the day and liaise with GP’s, District Nurses and other external services as needed.
- Administer medication and conduct the required auditing in line with our policy, and support the Head of Care when needed with the ordering, checking in and return of medication.
- Complete, observe & review care planning needs for the residents and complete daily records. Support the management team to ensure that holistic assessments are carried out when the resident is first admitted into the home.
- Assist the Head of Care and Registered Manager with weekly and monthly auditing.
- Observe and undertake staff supervisions within the timeframes required.
- Support new members of staff through induction and competency sign off.
- Ensure the call bell system is answered in a timely manner, giving assistance as required.
- Participate in staff meetings and support the management function at such meetings.
Alternate weekend working required.
