The Three Pilchards is one of Polperro’s best-loved pubs, serving quality food, great drinks and a warm welcome to locals, holidaymakers and four-legged friends alike. We’re looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to help lead our team through our busy seasons while maintaining the high standards our guests have come to expect.
No two days are the same. One minute you’ll be welcoming guests, the next you’ll be supporting the kitchen, coaching the team, resolving problems, jumping behind the bar or helping to deliver exceptional service during a packed summer evening.
What you’ll be doing
● Supporting the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the business.
● Leading shifts and motivating the team by setting the standard.
● Delivering outstanding customer service and creating memorable guest experiences.
● Assisting with staff training, development and maintaining high service standards.
● Helping manage stock, ordering and cellar quality.
● Ensuring the pub remains clean, safe and welcoming at all times.
● Handling cash, opening and closing procedures, and ensuring compliance with licensing and food safety regulations.
● Remaining calm, organised and positive during busy service periods.
We’re looking for someone who:
● Has previous supervisory or management experience within hospitality.
● Is confident leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
● Has excellent communication and people skills.
● Leads by example and isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up.
● Has high standards, strong attention to detail and takes pride in their work.
● Can think on their feet and solve problems with confidence.
● Is reliable, flexible and enjoys working evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
● Has a genuine passion for hospitality.
