Reports to: Assistant Operations Manager (BOH & Compliance) / Manager on Duty
Location: 53-55 Crumlin Road, Belfast, BT13 1EZCore focus: BOH events and operations support; setup and breakdown; hygiene; stock replenishment; and service preparation.
Purpose of the Role
The BOH Support role helps hospitality and event operations run smoothly through excellent preparation, safe working practices and reliable back-of-house support.
This casual role provides flexible support across events and day-to-day operations, helping ensure event spaces, service areas and operational zones are prepared, maintained and reset to the required standard.
Shifts will be offered according to BOH, event and operational requirements, with duties varying in line with the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
BOH Events & Operations Support
Support the practical delivery of hospitality, events and wider Brand Home operations as directed by the manager on duty.
Prepare event and hospitality spaces safely, following event briefs, room layouts and operational standards.
Set up furniture, equipment, service stations and consumables before events and trading periods.
Dismantle, clean and reset spaces after use, returning equipment safely to the correct storage areas.
Manual Handling & Safe Working
Follow safe lifting and carrying procedures when moving furniture, stock and equipment.
Use appropriate handling equipment and request assistance with heavy or awkward items.
Keep work areas and access routes clear to support safe movement throughout the venue.
Kitchen Porter, Cleaning & Hygiene
Operate dishwashing and glasswashing equipment safely and in accordance with training.
Complete assigned cleaning routines and maintain orderly kitchen, wash-up and BOH areas.
Follow hygiene, food-safety and HACCP-based procedures, including safe use of cleaning products and equipment.
Report cleanliness, maintenance, breakage or equipment concerns promptly to the manager on duty.
Stock Management & Replenishment
Support the receipt and unpacking of deliveries, checking for visible damage or discrepancies.
Move stock to the correct storage areas and help keep stockrooms organised and accessible.
Replenish hospitality and event stations and monitor day-to-day supplies.
Communicate stock shortages, equipment needs or operational issues clearly and promptly.
Event Service Preparation & Live Support
Prepare service stations, event equipment, glassware and consumables in line with the event brief.
Support food and beverage service areas during live events through clearing, replenishment and wash-up.
Reset event and service spaces after use in line with operational checklists and McConnell's brand standards.
Respond to reasonable operational requests from the Events team and manager on duty during busy periods.
General Responsibilities
Maintain high standards of punctuality, reliability, cleanliness and task completion.
Follow company policies, SOPs, training and management instructions.
Work cooperatively with the cafe, bar, events and wider Brand Home teams.
Escalate safety, stock, cleanliness or equipment concerns promptly and appropriately.
Undertake other reasonable BOH, event or operational-support duties within the scope of the role.
Essential Criteria
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to support varied BOH and event tasks.
Ability to carry out the practical requirements of the role, including moving furniture, equipment and stock, with reasonable adjustments where required.
Understanding of, or willingness to learn, safe manual-handling and hygiene practices.
Ability to identify issues with stock levels, cleanliness or equipment before they become problems.
Clear communication about stock, equipment needs and operational issues.
Ability to follow event briefs, SOPs, checklists and management instructions consistently.
A punctual, reliable approach and the ability to complete tasks to a consistent standard.
Flexible availability for shifts based on event and operational requirements, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Legal right to work in the UK.
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience in hospitality, events, kitchen-portering, cleaning or an operational-support role.
Food safety, HACCP, manual-handling or workplace-safety training.
Experience with event setup, stock replenishment, goods receiving or live-service support.
Experience in a visitor attraction, distillery, cultural venue or tourism environment.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
