We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated Senior Carer to join our vibrant care home team. In this important role, you will support the management and supervision of care staff while ensuring that our residents receive exceptional, person-centred care.
As a Senior Carer, you will lead by example, support the smooth running of each shift, and help ensure that care plans, safeguarding procedures, health and safety standards, and the individual needs of residents are consistently met. You will also play an important role in supporting the team with holiday and sickness cover, helping to maintain safe staffing levels and continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and supervise care assistants during shifts, promoting a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Provide and oversee high-quality, person-centred personal care in accordance with individual care plans.
- Act as a role model to care staff, promoting best practice and maintaining high standards of care.
- Support the development, implementation, and review of residents' care plans in response to their changing needs.
- Ensure residents' dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and wellbeing are maintained at all times.
- Support the safe administration and management of medication in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate care records, daily notes, medication records, and other documentation using relevant IT systems.
- Communicate effectively with residents, relatives, colleagues, healthcare professionals, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Identify and report any changes in residents' health, behaviour, or care needs promptly.
- Support compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, infection prevention and control, and other relevant care standards.
- Assist with the induction, mentoring, and ongoing support of new and existing care staff.
- Help address concerns, incidents, and issues arising during shifts and escalate appropriately when required.
- Support the smooth running of the care home in the absence of senior management, where appropriate.
- Assist with arranging and providing holiday and sickness cover to help maintain safe staffing levels and continuity of resident care.
- Work flexibly across different shifts and support the wider care team when staffing needs require.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the quality of care, resident satisfaction, and staff performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a care home, nursing home, or other adult social care setting.
- Previous experience in a senior, supervisory, or leadership role is desirable.
- A genuine passion for providing high-quality, person-centred care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support, motivate, and guide colleagues.
- Good knowledge of care planning and the needs of older people and/or adults requiring care and support.
- Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, medication procedures, and quality standards within adult social care.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative, and remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities effectively during busy shifts.
- Confidence using IT systems for care documentation and reporting.
- Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends, evenings, bank holidays, and to provide support for holiday and sickness cover when required.
- A valid driving licence is desirable for supporting transportation needs and community outings, where applicable.
