Role Overview
The Spray Shop Manager will lead the day-to-day operations of the Spray Department, managing the team, workflow and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards. The role is pivotal to the successful delivery of projects, ensuring all scenic elements are finished with precision and in line with design requirements.
Responsibilities:
· Manage the day-to-day running of the Spray Shop, overseeing sprayers and preppers and ensuring an efficient workflow
· Work closely with the Head of Scenic and wider departments to ensure clear communication, collaboration and timely project updates
· Schedule and delegate work, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the required standard
· Mentor, train and support the team, helping develop their skills, knowledge and confidence
· Maintain the highest standards of finish and quality across all projects
· Research and test new materials, techniques and products to encourage innovation and continuous improvement
· Order materials and monitor stock levels to ensure the Spray Shop is suitably resourced
· Maintain equipment and ensure high standards of health and safety within the Spray Shop
· Oversee the movement of set pieces between build and paint, ensuring an efficient workflow
· Ensure set pieces are wrapped, protected and prepared for transportation and site
· Maintain accurate records of hours worked on each project
· Support the wider team and collaborate across departments as required
Required skills
· Experience preparing and finishing a variety of materials, with sound knowledge of different methods and techniques
· Confident and proficient in the use of spray equipment and workshop tools
· Experience leading, mentoring and developing a team within a workshop environment
· Strong organisational skills, including scheduling, stock and project management
· Strong health and safety awareness, with a commitment to maintaining safe working practices
· Exceptional attention to detail, pride in your work and a collaborative approach, with the ability to lead by example
Working arrangements
Standard working hours: 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Workshop / office based, Belvedere, DA17 6BS
Reports to: Head of Scenic
