About Us
Dahlia Beach is an fast-growing flower farm based in West Oxfordshire. We grow and hand-pick flowers on site and, this year, will be delivering them across 5 delivery zones in and around Oxfordshire to customers, collection hubs and stockists.
It's a short, busy season, and the driver is the person who makes sure everything we've picked that morning actually reaches the people expecting it.
The Role
You'll be our sole delivery driver for the season, running a daily route in our extra-long-wheelbase van. Loads are picked and prepared in the morning; you'll load up, run the route, keep records straight and get the van back and ready for the next day.
This suits someone who likes being out on the road and working independently - you won't have someone looking over your shoulder, which means we need you to be the kind of person who doesn't need one.
What you'll be doing
- Loading the van carefully - flowers are fragile, and buckets are heavy and move around
- Driving a set daily delivery route across our 5 delivery zones
- Delivering to collection hubs, private customers and trade stockists
- Keeping accurate delivery records: what went where, what came back, any issues
- Handling customer contact on the doorstep - you're often the only person from Dahlia Beach a stockist or customer meets
- Daily vehicle checks: tyres, oil, water, damage, cleanliness
- Reporting problems the same day, not the next one
- Managing your own time so the route finishes within your hours
Essential
- Full UK driving licence, held for at least 2 years
- Previous delivery driving experience
- Confident driving a long-wheelbase van - including reversing, tight village lanes and rural single-track roads (there are lots of these on our delivery routes!)
- Organised and conscientious, with a genuinely accurate approach to paperwork
- Friendly, professional manner with customers
- Able to work independently and manage your own time
- Available to work Saturdays.
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Experience with perishable, fragile or chilled loads
- Comfortable using a delivery app or route planner on a smartphone
About the van
The vehicle you'll be driving is an extra-long-wheelbase van - noticeably longer than a standard transit-sized vehicle. It handles differently, needs more room to turn and reverse, and a lot of our drops are down narrow lanes and onto driveways. If you haven't driven something this size before, this isn't the role to learn on.
The vehicle is under 3.5 tonnes, so a standard category B licence covers it.
Own a suitable van?
We've budgeted to hire one for the season - so if you already own a long-wheelbase van that's in good condition and insured for commercial delivery work, we're open to paying that budget to you instead of to a rental. We'd cover fuel, but need to see the vehicle and agree terms in writing beforehand. Mention this in your application, if this applies.
