The role involves a balance of office-based and field-based activity, with approximately 25% to 40% of duties undertaken from an office environment and the remaining 60% to 75% delivered through site visits to premises across the borough. This requires the ability to work independently while carrying appropriate equipment and maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance. As part of a wider Enforcement team, the postholder will operate in accordance with statutory requirements and adhere to all relevant Council policies and procedures, contributing to a consistent and effective service.
In addition, the officer will act as a duly authorised representative of the Council, working collaboratively with internal departments, partner agencies and external organisations. Through education, partnership working and proportionate enforcement, the role plays a key part in enhancing the safety, wellbeing and confidence of the public within Harrow.
