Trainee BMS Controls Electrician
Location: South West England (with travel to customer sites)
Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per annum DOE + Company Vehicle (upon successful completion of probation) + Overtime + Training & Development

We are a growing Building Management Systems (BMS) specialist delivering high-quality controls installation, commissioning, and maintenance services across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and public sector projects throughout the South West and beyond.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee BMS Controls Electrician to join our team and develop a career within the rapidly expanding Building Controls industry.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an electrician, electrical improver, or recently qualified electrical engineer looking to gain specialist knowledge within BMS and control systems.
Working alongside experienced BMS engineers and electricians, you will receive on-the-job training and support to develop your skills in the installation, testing, and commissioning of Building Management Systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the installation of BMS control panels and field devices
- Installing containment, control cabling, and associated electrical infrastructure
- Wiring and terminating sensors, actuators, valves, meters, and control equipment
- Learning to read and interpret electrical schematics and BMS drawings
- Assisting with testing and fault-finding activities
- Supporting commissioning engineers on-site
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and site safety
- Completing project documentation and records
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Electrical qualification or currently working towards one (NVQ, City & Guilds, EAL or equivalent)
- Basic understanding of electrical installations and wiring practices
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Good communication skills
- Full UK driving licence (or working towards obtaining one)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Experience working on commercial electrical installations
- ECS / CSCS card
- Knowledge of control systems or industrial electrical installations
- Experience reading electrical drawings
- IPAF or PASMA certification
