Job Overview
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable individual to join our team at Little Berries Café, a brand-new play café designed for young children and their families.
As a Café & Play Assistant, you will be the face of our café, providing excellent customer service while helping to create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. This role involves serving food and drinks, supporting families during their visit, and assisting within the children’s play area when needed.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere
- Take food and drink orders efficiently and accurately
- Prepare and serve beverages, including coffee, tea, and soft drinks
- Serve food to tables and ensure presentation is to a high standard
- Keep the café, seating areas, and play spaces clean, tidy, and organised
- Handle cash and card payments responsibly
- Respond to customer queries and ensure a positive experience for all guests
- Work closely with the team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
- Follow food hygiene and health & safety regulations at all times
- Assist families within the play area, if required during busy periods.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality setting is desirable
- A friendly and approachable personality, especially with children and families
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay organised
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene practices
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Comfortable engaging with children and supporting a family-focused environment
