About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Assistant SENCO to join a supportive and inclusive school in Sutton. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO and senior leadership team to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping to ensure that every student receives the support they need to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the SENCO in coordinating and monitoring SEND provision across the school.
- Assist with the identification, assessment and review of pupils with SEND.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individual support plans and interventions.
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, parents/carers and external agencies to ensure pupils' needs are effectively met.
- Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate SEND records and documentation.
- Support staff in implementing effective strategies and adaptations within the classroom.
- Attend and contribute to review meetings, annual reviews and SEND-related meetings.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment that enables all pupils to thrive.
- Support safeguarding procedures and contribute to the wellbeing of all pupils.
RequirementsEssential
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
- Good understanding of SEND legislation, processes and best practice.
- Excellent communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, staff and external professionals.
- Commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
Desirable
- Previous experience working as an Assistant SENCO, SENCO, or within a SEND support role.
- Relevant SEND qualification or willingness to work towards further professional development.
- Experience of managing EHCP processes and annual reviews.
