Overview
We are currently looking to recruit a cook to cover a one‑day‑a‑week shift. This role is being introduced to support our existing kitchen team, and there is a strong possibility of the position developing into a full‑time cook role when a permanent vacancy becomes available. We welcome applicants who are interested in growing with us and progressing into a full‑time position in the future.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a flair for culinary arts to contribute to a vibrant dining environment. Applicants should have relevant kitchen experience and a keen interest in delivering excellent meal experiences to our residents.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
- Assist in the planning and development of new recipes and menu items
- Ensure all food is prepared safely, adhering strictly to food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils
- Monitor ingredient stock levels and communicate needs for replenishment
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods
- Serve meals to customers in a professional and courteous manner when required
- Follow all health and safety procedures to prevent accidents or contamination
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management
- Experience working in a restaurant or similar hospitality setting is highly desirable
- Familiarity with meal preparation techniques across various cuisines is advantageous
- Previous experience serving customers or handling food service operations will be beneficial
