What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be part of a busy, physical and hands-on operational team working across our inspection bays, storage areas and Bulking Bay. Your responsibilities will include:
- Unload and move palletised incoming waste for Chemist inspection
- Complete all pre‑use FLT inspections and PUWER safety checks
- Safely operate a counterbalance FLT under the company’s P.A.S.S. policy
- Weigh incoming loads on the site weighbridge
- Control vehicle movements on site (if trained as a banksman)
- Assist Chemists during inspections (removing clips/lids, re‑stacking pallets, etc.)
- Weigh individual items on pallet scales when required
- Sort, segregate and correctly store inspected waste
- Ensure compliance with HSG 71 guidelines and permit conditions
- Repalletise materials for safe double or top stacking
- Complete general housekeeping duties — sweeping, litter picking, drum crushing
- Repack materials into new containers as needed
- Carry out Bulking Bay operations under direction of a Technically Competent Person
- Complete batch sheets/lists for full traceability of processed waste
- Prepare outgoing loads and pick pallets from storage
- Load outgoing vehicles, including hook loaders
- Actively promote a strong safety culture — report at least one near miss per month
- Support other teams as required
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the business
This role is hands on, physical and sometimes outdoors — perfect if you like variety and staying active.
Overtime opportunities available:
· Weekdays: x1.25 hourly rate
· Saturdays: x1.5 hourly rate
Who We’re Looking For:
· Safety‑first, reliable, ready to get stuck in
· Comfortable working outdoors and with waste materials
· Able to follow instructions and complete simple paperwork
· Basic literacy and numeracy
· Experience in waste or warehousing helpful — not essential
· Strong understanding of H&S, COSHH, manual handling, LOLER, RIDDOR (advantage)
· Willing, flexible, eager to learn and progress
· Valid Counterbalance FLT licence (required)
