Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Art Therapist to join our dedicated healthcare team. The successful candidate will utilise creative arts as a therapeutic tool to support individuals experiencing emotional, behavioural, or psychological challenges. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in clients' lives through innovative and personalised therapy programmes. The Art Therapist will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs.
Duties
- Conduct individual and group art therapy sessions, employing various artistic mediums to facilitate emotional expression and healing.
- Develop personalised care plans based on thorough assessments of clients’ psychological and emotional needs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and medical staff, to ensure cohesive treatment approaches.
- Maintain detailed documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and care plans in compliance with organisational standards and confidentiality regulations.
- Utilise effective communication skills to build rapport with clients, fostering a safe and supportive environment conducive to creative expression.
- Incorporate IT tools for record keeping, progress tracking, and delivering virtual or hybrid therapy sessions when appropriate.
- Provide leadership within the therapy team by sharing best practices and supporting less experienced colleagues.
- Stay informed about current developments in art therapy techniques and integrate innovative approaches into practice.
Qualifications
- recognised qualification in Art Therapy or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Proven experience working with diverse client groups in a therapeutic setting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Proficiency in IT applications relevant to healthcare documentation and virtual therapy platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, including the ability to guide colleagues and contribute positively to team dynamics.
- Experience in developing comprehensive care plans tailored to individual client requirements.
