Job Overview
We are recruiting for a Health & Safety Assistant to join a growing business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being out on site, building strong working relationships and promoting a positive health and safety culture.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you'll support multiple sites by carrying out inspections, assisting with investigations and helping ensure health and safety standards are maintained across the business. This is a varied, hands-on role offering excellent opportunities for career development within an established and expanding organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular site inspections and identify areas for improvement.
- Work closely with managers to agree and follow up on corrective actions.
- Support the delivery of a positive health and safety culture across multiple sites.
- Assist with site inductions and toolbox talks where required.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending improvements.
- Support the review and update of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Assist with COSHH assessments and health and safety documentation.
- Help prepare for internal and external audits.
- Monitor and track health and safety actions to ensure completion.
- Provide day-to-day health and safety support to operational teams.
Skills & Experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate or willingness to work towards achieving it.
- Previous experience within a health and safety role is desirable.
- Confident carrying out site inspections and incident investigations.
- Good understanding of health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
