The Role
We are looking for an Area Manager in our award winning NYES catering service to oversee 30+ kitchens across Scarborough, Whitby, Pickering and Malton. Reporting to the Senior Catering Manager, you’ll work with key stakeholders in the kitchens, including headteachers, to ensure they are Food safety compliant. Manage the staff, including sickness, absence and recruitment to ensure the kitchens are appropriately covered at all times. Organise and oversee training and review performance. monitor budgets and work with the schools to ensure they keep within their agreed financial margins. Follow the NYES dedication to providing fresh, locally sourced food encouraging children and young people to choose healthy food with the aim of increasing the uptake of school meals assist in kitchens if required.
What you can bring
Experience in catering is crucial to being successful in this role, with a qualification in Food Safety (Professional Catering Qualification e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery, City and Guilds 706/1/2, Level 3 Food Safety).
We are looking for candidates who are able to:
- engage stakeholders through excellent communication work within tight financial targets
- handle difficult conversations when required manage and organise own workload
- If you have experience in catering in a school environment, this would be beneficial but not a requirement.
