Salary:
- £13.03 per hour – Holders of an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- £12.82 per hour – Applicants without an NVQ Level 3 (with the expectation of working towards the qualification)
Positive Steps Specialist Care Services Ltd is looking for enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated Children's Residential Support Workers to join our growing team. We provide high-quality residential care for children and young people, creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where they can thrive.
We are currently recruiting for both Day Support Workers and Night Support Workers on a full-time basis.
Shift Patterns
Day Support Worker
- 2 days on, 2 days off
- Long day shifts
- Full UK driving licence preferred
Night Support Worker
- 4 nights on, 4 nights off
- Waking night shifts
The Role
As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with their daily lives, helping them develop independence, confidence, and positive life skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
- Supporting children with their daily routines, including personal care where required
- Encouraging participation in education, hobbies, and recreational activities
- Supporting children to attend appointments, family contact, and community activities
- Promoting independence and life skills
- Providing emotional support and positive role modelling
- Recording daily observations and maintaining accurate documentation
- Working in accordance with individual care plans and safeguarding procedures
- Working closely with colleagues and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes
About You

Essential
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards the qualification
- Ability to work the required shift pattern
- Commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare
Desirable
- Experience working with children or young people in a residential, education, care, or support setting
- Full UK driving licence (preferred for Day Support Workers)
