Activities Manager – Create memorable experiences for international students

We’re looking for an Activities Manager to coordinate and oversee a varied programme of social activities, events and excursions for international students in Canterbury.
Based just five minutes from Canterbury city centre, we offer free on-site parking.
About Stafford House
Each year, students from around the world choose Stafford House to improve their English and experience life in the UK. Alongside their studies, we provide a variety of activities and excursions — and that’s where you come in.
As Activities Manager, you’ll help create the experiences students remember, giving them opportunities to practise their English, make friends and experience life in the UK.
About the role
You’ll be at the centre of a busy activities and excursions programme, helping bring everything together for our international students.
From evening social activities and sports tournaments to cultural trips, you’ll make sure our programmes are well organised and deliver a great experience. The role involves a mix of planning and creativity, along with plenty of customer interaction and problem-solving.
Key Duties
- Planning and coordinating a varied programme of social, recreational and cultural activities
- Overseeing the day-to-day running of the programme, supporting Activity Leaders to deliver activities and excursions to a high standard
- Organising bookings and trips, liaising with venues, transport providers and local partners
- Building strong relationships with Group Leaders, gathering feedback and ensuring groups are happy and well supported
- Monitoring the programme and responding to day-to-day issues to ensure activities run smoothly and students have a great experience
About you
- Experience organising activities, events or programmes, ideally in a summer school, language school or similar setting
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage schedules, bookings and multiple priorities
- Strong customer focus and a genuine interest in creating great experiences for children, teenagers and other international students
- Confident working closely with Activity Leaders and building positive relationships with students, Group Leaders and colleagues
- Creative, proactive and resourceful, with the ability to use initiative and find practical solutions
- Experience working with international students or overseas groups is desirable
Hours and salary
- £27,000–£29,000 per annum + 10% performance-related bonus
- 37.5 hours per week, with additional hours required during June to August, including some evenings and weekends. Time off in lieu will be provided.
