Job Summary
This will include operating a truck equipped with a lorry-mounted crane (HIAB) to deliver and unload goods, primarily building materials, to various sites. This role involves safe operation of the vehicle and crane, adherence to traffic laws, and effective communication with dispatch and customer
Duties
- Vehicle Operation: Driving a Class 2 or Class 1 vehicle (depending on the specific role and requirements) to transport goods to different locations.
- Crane Operation: Safely operating the lorry-mounted crane (HIAB) to load and unload materials.
- Load Security: Ensuring loads are properly secured for safe transportation.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Performing routine vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
- Delivery Coordination: Communicating with dispatch and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and address any issues.
- Paperwork Completion: Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, vehicle checks, and any incidents.
- Safety Compliance: Adhering to all relevant traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Customer Service: Providing a professional and courteous service to customers.
- General Operations – help and assist in general duties when HIAB duties are quiet.
Skills, knowledge and aptitude
- Safety awareness: Ensure vehicles are in optimal condition and adhere to road traffic laws.
- Lorry Maintenance: Always ensuring roadworthy and clean inside and out
- Communication: Effective communication with colleagues and site management.
- Maintain Professionalism: Treat all interactions with respect, dress appropriately, and communicate effectively. Exhibit patience in traffic and with clients.
- Follow Company Policies: Adhere to safety protocols, time management, vehicle maintenance, customer service guidelines, and handling procedures.
Requirements
- Driving Licence: A valid UK Class 2 or Class 1 (Category C or C+E) driving license, depending on the vehicle and load.
- Crane Certificate: A current Crane certificate, often with a specific attachment (e.g., brick grab).
- Manual handling
- CPC Training
Experience
- Relevant experience as a Class 2 or Class 1 driver.
- A clean driving record, with some roles specifying a maximum number of penalty points.
Work Pattern: 07.00hrs-16.30 hrs Mon- Fri (Occasional Saturdays as required)
Pay: Up to £15.00 per hour
