Job Title: Repairing Operative
We are currently recruiting for a Repairing Operative to join our busy Cut & Inspect Department.
This is a full-time, permanent position working 38 hours per week Monday to Wednesday 1330 - 2400 and Thursday 1330-2200.
Rate of pay starting from £13.45 per hour, dependant on experience.
About the Role
As a Repair Operative at Johnstons of Elgin, you will:
- Carry out repairs to fabrics and products and fix faults using a range of repair techniques.
- Follow detailed work instructions and quality specifications.
- Maintain excellent attention to detail while achieving production targets.
- Identify and resolve faults to ensure products are finished to the highest standard.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Cut & Inspect Department.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
- Take pride in producing luxury products that reflect the craftsmanship and heritage of Johnstons of Elgin.
About you

- Show an interest in fashion, textiles or crafts, specifically interest in sewing
- Have strong creative instincts – thinking outside the box to come up with new ideas
- Have the ability to carefully and accurately follow detailed written instructions
- Take pride in doing a job well, and never compromise on high standards
- Be a team player with good communication skills
- Have excellent colour vision
- Good concentration to stay focused for long periods of time
- Be able to work to deadlines
Confidence using scissors for precision work would be an advantage, however, full training will be provided.
