Funeral Receptionist & Administrator
Thornalley Funeral Services is a family business, independently owned and managed by the Thornalley family. We cover all aspects of the funeral business and pride ourselves in delivering the very best personal, yet professional, service for the bereaved. Our head office/funeral home is in King’s Lynn and we also have funeral homes in Dersingham and Swaffham.
We are looking for a friendly, organised and reliable Receptionist/Administrator who will be based at our King’s Lynn funeral home but on the odd occasion to help out at our other funeral homes if required. As you will potentially be the first point of contact for any enquiries and bereaved families, it is important that you are able to work in a busy office and be kind, reassuring and supportive to all who you come into contact with. It is vital you help ensure the service we provide to the bereaved is dignified, friendly and professional.
Your role and responsibilities will involve being a friendly face who is a caring, helpful and organised team member. You will be dealing with not only the bereaved but with a range of people including officiants, crematorium staff, GPs, coroners, registrars, hospital mortuary staff and the medical examiner’s office.
You will be responsible for answering the office phones with a confident and professional telephone manner, carrying out general administrative duties including emails, supporting the bereaved when they are viewing their loved ones in the Chapel of Rest and dealing with general enquiries. Prioritising your work and maintaining confidentiality of the deceased and their families is also vital.
You will be responsible for always maintaining a high standard of personal appearance, speech and conduct with no visible tattoos or facial piercings. It is important that you can demonstrate and use your own initiative and be flexible as our working day can change due to the nature of the business. In this ever changing and interesting role, you will need to have common sense, a keen eye for attention to detail and be comfortable with supporting and reassuring the bereaved. You must be able to work well within a friendly team and be comfortable with using IT as we have a computer based funeral system.
Your standard working hours will be a 40 hour week, 8.30am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday with one Saturday morning in every five, 9.00am – 11.00am.
