Overview
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Van Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials safely and efficiently. This role requires excellent driving skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service. As a Van Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety regulations. The company vehicle will not be accessible outside work hours. You will have assistance (a driver’s mate) most of the time. A degree of flexibility around stated hours of work is expected.
Duties
- Operate the van in a safe and responsible manner.
- Load and unload goods, which involves very heavy lifting, ensuring that items are secured properly for transport. Goods include carpet and laminate flooring. Will include carrying up and down stairs.
- Conduct routine checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition before each journey.
- Communicate with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues that may arise.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries made via route application, including any discrepancies or damages encountered during transport.
- Assist in warehouse operations as needed, including inventory management and organisation of goods.
- Collect site refuse for safe disposal back at unit.
Skills and experience
- Experience as a Delivery Driver or in a similar role is preferred.
- Ability to operate Extra Long Wheel Base vehicle is required.
- Strong driving skills with a valid driving licence.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently.
- Good level of strength and fitness is essential.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members of all nationalities and ethnicities effectively, with courtesy and respect.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations is advantageous.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and time management.
