About the role
We’re looking for a Seasonal Cheese Production Operative to join our cheesemaking team at Fen Farm Dairy.
This is a hands-on role supporting the team across the full cheesemaking process, from milk preparation and curd handling through to maturation, packing and dispatch.
You’ll work closely with the Cheese Production Manager and wider production team to ensure our cheese is produced safely, efficiently and to the high standards we expect.
There is potential for this role to become permanent after the seasonal period, depending on business needs and your performance and suitability for a longer-term position.
What you’ll be doing
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Supporting the cheesemaking process, including curd handling, moulding, salting and turning
- Helping with milk intake and preparation
- Caring for and turning cheeses during maturation
- Carrying out routine production checks
- Completing production records accurately
- Supporting wrapping, packing and preparation for dispatch
- Monitoring cheese quality and reporting any issues
- Cleaning and sanitising equipment and production areas
- Following food safety, HACCP, SALSA and health & safety procedures
- Working as part of the team to keep daily production running smoothly
- Helping with other reasonable duties across the production area when required
What we’re looking for
Previous cheesemaking or food production experience would be useful, but it isn’t essential. We’re more interested in finding someone with the right attitude who is willing to learn.
