Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organised House Manager to oversee the daily operations of a private residential block of flats over over 50's. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating maintenance and service providers, and ensuring the smooth functioning of all household activities. This role requires excellent organisational skills, discretion, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The House Manager will play a vital part in maintaining a welcoming, efficient, and well-maintained home environment. You will also provide a vital role in resident communication and liaison.
Responsibilities
- You will work very closely with the Property Manager for the block in accordance with the ARHM's code of practice.
- You will be involved in the day-to-day management of the communal facilities and communal areas of the block, ensuring everything is in working order.
- You will need to contact the property manager if any issues are raised to you as soon as possible, to ensure the property manager can deal with it. This can be done by calling the property manager or emailing.
- Monitoring maintenance and repairs.
- You will maintain an accident records for accidents within communal areas only.
- You will ensure residents are aware of the need for security and that no unannounced visitors (other than regular trades people) gain access to the building, you will make sure that all confidential information is kept safe.
- You need to report back to the property manager if you have any concerns regarding the standards and service provided by any of the contractors.
- You will need good communication and listening skills as you will be working with the elderly.
- To regularly check and ensure that lighting standards are maintained and that the ambient temperature of the communal areas are properly regulated.
- To exercise control over the use of communal facilities such as car park, lounge and guest suite.
- Encourage the formation of social committee and/or help residents arrange events that allow them to socialise – residents normally arrange, but give support if needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in household management or a similar role within a private residence or luxury environment
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with staff, service providers, and family members
- Discretion, professionalism, and a high level of integrity
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules
- Basic knowledge of property maintenance and health & safety standards is desirable
- A valid driving licence is preferred but not essential
- Basic IT Skills, i.e. Email, word, browsing the internet for information.
- Good telephone manner.
- Essential that the candidate has good communication skills, verbal and written.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and committed to maintaining the highest standards within the household.
Working hours will be 08:00- 12:00 3 mornings a week
